Real Housewives of New York star Tinsley Mortimer kicked off the holiday season by getting engaged to Coupon Cabin CEO Scott Kluth on November 24th. She captioned an Instagram photo of Kluth’s proposal with,
“I always knew it was you!!”
According to E! News, the engagement came soon after the on-again, off-again couple announced that they were officially back together. In another post on October 21st, Mortimer revealed she was in Chicago with Kluth, writing,
“Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue. And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.”
Mortimer later confirmed the reunion at BravoCon on November 15h. According to Us Weekly, she said,
“Scott and I did get back together. I’m more excited than anybody!”
Mortimer waited a few days after her engagement before giving fans a glimpse at the stunning rock her future husband gave her when he popped the question. In a Thanksgiving post, the world finally saw the gorgeous sparkler for the first time.
The co-founder of jewelry retailer James Allen recently told E! News that Mortimer’s bling cost a pretty penny and is definitely the sort of high-priced item you’d expect to grace the fourth finger of a Real Housewife. Schultz estimated that the ring is worth somewhere between $200,000 and $300,000, adding,
“It looks about [5.5 to 7] carats. It appears to be a rose gold solitaire set with an elongated oval diamond.”
But another celebrity jeweler thinks that the ring is a bit flashier, telling E! News,
“To my eye, the diamond looks to be a beautifully shaped oval in the 8 to 10 carat range.”
However much the ring is worth, it’s clear that Mortimer is loving being engaged. She captioned the pic of her and her soon-to-be-hubby with:
“Sooo much to be THANKFUL for!!!”
Mortimer posted a video of the engagement on Instagram on December 1st, gushing,
“One week ago today I got engaged to the LOVE of my life! Thank you sooo much for all your excitement for us! Every time I watch this it makes me cry.”
Mortimer and Kluth have been together since 2017. They were introduced during season 9 of Real Housewives of New York, but a strain was put on their relationship because of the distance between them – Mortimer lives in New York, while Kluth lives in Chicago. Back in June 2018, she admitted on Watch What Happens Live that they’d been struggling.
In spite of the distance, Mortimer and Kluth are clearly determined to overcome their obstacles in order to be with each other for the rest of their lives.
So what does Mortimer’s engagement mean for her future on The Real Housewives of New York? Even before the engagement, there were rumors that she’d be leaving the show. At the beginning of November, Page Six reported that Mortimer had recently missed filming for season 12 of the show in order to spend time with Kluth. The outlet reported that castmates were convinced Mortimer would be leaving the show, but sources insisted that she will still be involved in the show’s upcoming season.
Page Six also revealed that the Real Housewives thought an engagement was imminent, saying that Kluth had already bought Mortimer a ring. In November, Us Weekly reported that a source claimed Mortimer eventually plans to move to Chicago with Kluth, adding that she’s, quote, “finally getting her happy ending.”
The source said that Mortimer plans to leave New York after season 12 wraps. Another source who claimed to be close to Mortimer said,
“She is moving for love. This is a very happy time in her life right now and everyone is rooting for her and Scott. They have addressed all their issues and no longer want to live without each other. She is very, very happy!”
While Chicago doesn’t have a Real Housewives franchise yet, maybe one day Mortimer will become a cast member of the Real Housewives of Chicago. For now, though, she seems content to bask in the happiness of her engagement. Watch the video to learn The Truth About Tinsley Mortimer’s Engagement Ring!
